Casa Tortuga

"Casa Tortuga" was the house we rented near Hilo for this section of the trip. I found it online at greatrentals, here it is: Casa Tortuga.

This is a really lovely property. It's built very close to the coast, on the black lava shelf, so from the greatroom, you can see the ocean in all directions. the small semi-circular deck gives you the feel of being in boat, with the surf crashing practically all around you. The location was very convenient, all the things we wanted to do on the east side of the Big Island were within 40 minutes. Hilo and restaurants was less than half an hour away.

The house was very well equipped, with everything we could want. And with a name like Casa Tortuga, there were lots of turtles. Including a couple we saw in the surf near the rocks outside.
